How to cheat and still keep your New Year’s resolutions

January 30, 2017EdenvaleBlog

Have you decided to give alcohol a break as part of your New Year’s resolution, but still crave a glass of vino?

New Year’s resolutions are notoriously difficult to follow, mainly because we set unrealistic goals. The secret is to set simple goals and be patient with yourself. Self-discipline is something you need to work on. Don’t give up or get distracted if you fail. Keep at it, or try a different approach. Once you begin to see progress you will feel better about yourself. And that is the first step…

What if we told you could stay on the wagon and carry on drinking? And lose weight.

Hmmmm. Impossible we hear you say! Well, there is a way – non-alcoholic wine. Yes, wine without the alcohol (or the hangover). What could be simpler than that.

What is non-alcoholic wine?

The wine is produced using an evaporative process. It is refined, purified and then goes through a blending process (with a little grape juice) to return volume and sweetness. At the end you have a glass that looks like wine, tastes like wine and has less than 0.5% alcohol by volume, which is about the same as a glass of fruit juice. And it still has that delicate aroma that is so unique to wine.

So, how could non-alcoholic wine help you keep your New Year’s resolutions?

Why non-alcoholic wine?

Here are some very good reasons to give non-alcoholic wine a go:

  • You can still party (hard) and feel part of any social occasion. With a glass in your hand, and the taste of wine on your palate, there is no excuse for not letting your hair down.
  • With less than half the calories of standard wine, which has anywhere from 250 to 300 calories, your waistline takes care of itself. If you are drinking six or seven glasses a week that is 1,800 to 2,000 calories a week. That adds up, especially if you are better at bending the elbow than skipping the rope.
  • It tastes great and has the same antioxidants as regular wine.
  • If you can’t possibly enjoy a meal without a glass, you can still enjoy a glass (or bottle) with your food.
  • It is non -intoxicating, so there is no hangover (yipee!).
  • Non alcoholic wine is also great for pregnant or a breastfeeding mums

And with non-alcoholic wine no one needs to know. It can be your secret resolution for the New Year…
