With 2022 seeing us getting back to life as we once knew it, we give you some tips on making the new year your best yet.
When the year 2022 began, there was still so much uncertainty in the world. However, coming into this new year, it’s exciting to see much more confidence and certainty in our day to day lives, which means setting goals for ourselves in 2023 is much more attainable and manageable.
We’re here to help you not only set new year's resolutions and goals, but get you achieving them and living a healthier, happier life.
Tip 1. Plan ahead.
“By failing to plan, you are preparing to fail” were the wise words of Benjamin Franklin. It is so important to plan ahead to ensure you know exactly what you want to achieve. Try writing out your goals on a piece of paper throughout the month of December, noting down why you want to achieve them, and how you are going to achieve them. Have them ready by the last few days of the year and leave the piece of paper in a place you will see each day. Perhaps laminate the paper and hang it in your shower! This will help you to stay focused and remember what you’ve set out to achieve.
Tip 2. Be realistic.
Humans are dreamers... we are all constantly on a mission to better ourselves and want to reach a level of success that can sometimes be unattainable in a small amount of time. Make sure your resolutions are achievable, and something pragmatic to work towards bit by bit each day.
Tip 3. Outline your plan.
Much like in tip one, it’s so important to know how and why you're going to achieve your goals. Outlining changes you want to make, and how you are going to approach situations you may find yourself in that will hinder your progress, is a recipe for success. So, when your friends invite you for that dinner party, and you know there will be a glass of wine involved, set yourself up for success by grabbing a bottle of non-alcoholic wine to take with you. Edenvale wines are crafted to have the taste and full complexity of regular alcoholic wine, without the alcohol. So, why miss out? You CAN have your cake and eat it too! Opting for a non-alcoholic wine means you will physically be able to take part in the drinking, minus the alcoholic consumption.
Tip 4. Let the world know.
Not literally, we don't expect you to make a wild announcement about your amazing goals and how much you are levelling up. However, it’s great to talk about it, and make it known! Fill in those close to you and let them know your plans for the new year. Be proud and confident in yourself, no matter how daunting it may feel. Your friends and family are on your team, they are there to support you, and will give you the right encouragement and cheer you on from the sidelines. Talking through your goals is important because hearing them, especially hearing yourself talk about them, speaks them into existence. You will find yourself realising you can do this, and it is what you want, and you’ll be more motivated to achieve your goals knowing you’ve told your nearest and nearest all about them!
Tip 5. Reflect and track your progress.
Whether you want to check in monthly, fortnightly or weekly, set up a time and day by yourself to reflect on your journey, and track how you have been progressing with your goals. Be honest with yourself. Make note of what's working for you, and what isn't so great. These things take time, and the best way to be patient and kind to yourself on this journey is to reflect, hold yourself accountable, and be realistic.
Tip 6. When you’ve done well, treat yourself!
Sticking to goals and resolutions can be tough, so you deserve a reward! When you’ve checked in with yourself, you’ll feel proud and happy for getting closer bit by bit to your goals, whatever they are. If your goal is to stay healthy and train for a triathlon, and you’ve just nailed your 5km run in under 30 mins, give yourself a pat on the back – and go enjoy a reward. The best part about goal setting is the entire journey. Have a glass of non-alcoholic wine for dessert. Edenvale wines are created through delicate alcohol extraction technology, to ensure varietal definition and flavours are retained in the finished product so you can still enjoy a wine experience without the effects of alcohol.
