Introducing Edenvale’s State-of-The-Art New Facility

At the heart of Edenvale is our drive and determination to continue to pioneer in the alcohol-removed wine space. We recently invested $5 million into a new cutting-edge processing facility and are thrilled with the results.

The facility is located in the heart of the Murray-Darling (Australia’s second-largest wine region) and showcases highly advanced dealcoholization technology created in partnership with BevZero and Logichem.

The new technology has vastly improved our production and environmental efficiencies, enhancing the quality of our alcohol-removed wines and providing us with more control over every aspect of the wine-making process.

Removing Alcohol From Wine - The Future Is Here

How is alcohol removed from wine at our new facility? 

Central to the facility is a GoLo heat-pump powered unit, the first of its kind in the world. The new unit fulfills the heating and cooling functions of the equipment in one process, ensuring greater efficiency and minimising the heat shock to the wine. The GoLo unit loses 50 percent less wine volume in the alcohol removal process than older technologies and returns more heavy aromatic essence to the final product for improved flavour. The process is also considerably more efficient than previous technology, producing 2200L of wine per hour.  

In a nutshell, the GoLo separates wine into three parts—alcohol, de-alcoholised liquid and essence—and then blends the essence back with the de-alcoholised liquid to create the final alcohol-removed base wines that our expert winemakers use for blending the Edenvale wines that we all know and love.

How Our Alcohol Removed Wine Is Environmentally Friendlier

The Edenvale facility is a world-first in sustainable winemaking. Given that GoLo can perform heating and cooling duties simultaneously, it has effectively halved the use of energy we require for dealcoholisation. 

This groundbreaking approach eliminates the need for fossil fuels to run the equipment, significantly reducing carbon emissions and enhancing production efficiencies. The process also relies on minimal water, which is a win for all. 

The result is a dealcoholised wine that tastes better and is better for the planet.

Other Benefits of Edenvale Alcohol Removed Wine

This advancement means our winemakers can now remove alcohol from their finished products more efficiently, preserving the delicate flavours without multiple distillation steps. The result is more complex, wine-like characteristics across all Edenvale wines, ensuring improved ‘vinosity’. 

It gives our winemakers greater control over the production of our wines, allowing for more hands-on experimentation to fine-tune our methods and recipes.
