For the second year running, Edenvale has stood out in a highly competitive field to win the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) Low and No Wine Producer trophy. This year’s remarkable success in the competition also includes two golds, three silvers and eight bronzes, prompting one judge to describe our entry as a “slam dunk”.
What Does IWSC Mean?
The IWSC is widely recognised as one of the world’s most influential judging panels, known for its deep industry knowledge, thoughtful evaluation and genuinely personal approach. Each year it celebrates outstanding wine and spirit producers across a broad mix of categories, from different grape varietals to spirits, design and packaging.
A Commitment to Making Alcohol-Removed Wine More Sustainable
Being recognised once more by such esteemed industry peers is humbling and a testament to the 20-year investment we’ve made in helping to shape the global landscape of non-alcoholic wines. However, what has us popping extra bottles of our non-alcoholic sparkling wine is recognition of our sustainability work.
As IWSC Awards 2025 judge Alex Hunt MW acknowledged, Edenvale has “Directly [tackled] the carbon footprint of de-alcoholisation, something no other entrant has addressed head-on”.
Dealcoholising wine has traditionally demanded significant energy. We wanted to challenge that. Our goal was to create a smarter, cleaner way forward that left a lighter carbon footprint without compromising quality. In 2024, we invested $5 million into a new leading-edge alcohol removal facility, partnering with BevZero and Logichem to pioneer advanced dealcoholisation technology. Through an energy-efficient GoLo heat pump-powered unit, the first of its kind anywhere in the world, we can now produce more alcohol-removed wine using far less water and energy.
The added benefit is that this process has further refined the flavour, aroma and structure of our varietals, resulting in even better-tasting wines for our customers. It’s been a game-changer for Edenvale and for everyone who enjoys our wines, and we’re genuinely delighted that the IWSC chose to highlight these efforts.
