How We Make the Best Non-Alcoholic Wines

Did you know all Edenvale wines begin life as 100% alcoholic traditional wines?

Like all great wines, we source the finest fruit from the best regions. And like all great wines, we employ traditional techniques to remain true to each varietal.

But it’s what happens after we’ve made the wine that things get really interesting and exciting. We use advanced, GoLo technology to extract the alcohol. This process enables us to retain all the characteristics you expect and enjoy from a traditional wine.

FAQs About Alcohol-Removed Wines

What Is Non-Alcoholic Wine?

-

Edenvale non-alcoholic wine, also known as alcohol-removed wine, is made from wine grapes that are fully fermented (as per traditional processes) before the alcohol is gently removed using a GoLo heat-pump powered unit. This process allows the wine to retain its original flavour, aroma, and structure while significantly reducing its alcohol content.

Does Non-Alcoholic Wine Contain Any Alcohol?

+

Edenvale de-alcoholised wine contains up to 0.5% ABV, which is the equivalent of fresh fruit juice.

How Is Alcohol Removed From Wine?

+

At Edenvale, alcohol is removed using our GoLo heat-pump unit. The system separates the wine into three components—alcohol, de-alcoholised wine, and aromatic essence—then returns the essence to the de-alcoholised wine to help preserve flavour and aroma. It’s highly efficient, processing around 2,200L per hour, with lower wine-volume loss than older methods.

Is Non-Alcoholic Wine a Healthier Alternative?

+

Non-alcoholic wine can be a suitable alternative for those looking to reduce or avoid alcohol consumption. Compared to traditional wine, it typically contains fewer calories while still being made from grapes that naturally contain antioxidants. As with all food and beverages, it is best enjoyed as part of a balanced lifestyle.

Is it OK to Drink Non-Alcoholic Wine Every Day?

+

Only you (and your GP) understand your personal daily nutritional needs, which may be influenced by health and lifestyle goals, medical status, environment and other factors. As with all food and beverages, moderation is key. No-alcohol wines do contain fewer calories than traditional wine. However, they are made from grapes and therefore ultimately contain sugars.

Can You Drink Non-Alcoholic Wine During Pregnancy?

+

Many people choose non-alcoholic wine during pregnancy as an alternative to traditional wine. Alcohol-removed wines, such as Edenvale, contain up to 0.5% ABV, comparable to fresh fruit juice. However, medical advice can differ, and you should consult your GP or healthcare provider for personalised guidance.

What Does Non-Alcoholic Wine Taste Like?

+

Non-alcoholic wine in Australia varies significantly depending on the winemaker. The Edenvale team works hard to remain faithful to each varietal. As such, you can expect aromas and flavours typical of each wine type and taste terrific!

Can I Serve Non-Alcoholic Wine at a Wedding?

Sparkling non-alcoholic wine offers a particularly sophisticated alternative that enhances the celebratory atmosphere while minimising premature intoxication.
