We are proud to announce that Edenvale have signed up as Gold corporate sponsors of aeromedical charity CareFlight.
Established in 1986, CareFlight’s core activity is rapid response critical care and emergency rescue, as well as transport of patients needing specialist care, from accident scenes and between medical facilities, across Australia and internationally. This is done using a fleet of helicopters, aeroplanes and jets - including the CareFlight Air Ambulance - to fly specialist medical teams to the critically ill and injured.
They also undertake a range of other activities including education, training and supplying specialist clinical services including onsite medical support, medical advice, clinical governance, case management and logistics and coordination services.
We love their core mission to save lives, speed recovery and serve the community, which is why we decided to support the critical and valuable work they carry out.
Alcohol and road accidents
Unfortunately alcohol is a major cause of road traffic accidents and deaths in Australia.
The Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) indicates that around 30 per cent of road traffic deaths in Australia involve alcohol, which is higher than many other high-income countries including Germany (9%), Spain (12%) and the UK (16%).
Alcohol acts as a depressant on the central nervous system, which:
Affects reaction times
Impairs multi-tasking
Reduces attention span
Causes blurred vision
Data from the National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP) indicates that the casualty crash risk doubles when driving with an alcohol level just in excess of 0.05 Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC).
As you know our products are non-intoxicating, meaning you can have a glass (or three) and still drive home and wake up with a clear head. If you are hosting guests, who are drinking, you should encourage them not to drink (alcohol) and drive - and help to arrange transport for them. This could be a lift with someone else, a taxi or an Uber ride home.
If you are also interested in supporting the work of CareFlight you can help them make a difference by donating, volunteering or by entering their regular raffles.
