How to Serve Non-Alcoholic Premium Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Serve Edenvale Premium Reserve Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon at a cool room temperature, around 16 to 18 degrees, in a large-bowled red wine glass so the aromatics can open up. A short decant softens the tannins and lifts the fruit. Once opened, refrigerate, reseal and enjoy within a few days while the wine is at its best.
Store unopened bottles upright in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight.
Edenvale Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon Food Pairings
With its firm tannins and dark-fruit depth, this non-alcoholic Coonawarra Cabernet is sublime with rich, savoury cooking. Pour it alongside:
- Char-grilled lamb cutlets with rosemary and garlic
- Slow-braised beef cheeks, osso buco or a venison casserole
- Seared duck breast or a rich game ragù
- Wild mushroom and truffle risotto
- Mature blue cheese or a washed-rind such as taleggio
- Dark chocolate or a warm chocolate fondant
How Edenvale Makes Its Alcohol-Removed Premium Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Great Cabernet is built on structure, so the challenge is to remove alcohol from the wine without losing its backbone. Edenvale's GoLo heat-pump unit, a world first, heats and cools in a single step, sparing the wine heat shock and returning more of the aromatic essence behind the fruit. What's left finishes under 0.5% alcohol, structure intact.
Never without a bottle in our place. People can't believe it's non alcoholic. Love it.
Edenvale wines are very pleasant to drink, especially if one has to drive home afterwards. My favourite one is the Shiraz, but the entire range is lovely.
After over 2 years alcohol free it is a real treat to have found Edenvale wines. They taste great and it is so nice to be able to again have a glass with dinner or drinks with friends and not be the odd one out.
Why choose Edenvale Premium Reserve Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon?
Because it gives you a premium, classic big Australian red wine without alcohol. This is a true single-region Coonawarra Cabernet, all blackcurrant, cedar and dark chocolate, with the firm tannins and long finish of a serious wine. It is vegan, keeps the grapes' natural antioxidants and vitamins, and at under 0.5% alcohol, just 21 calories (87 kJ) per 150 mL pour, it counts as zero standard drinks.
Why is Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon unique?
Coonawarra owes its reputation to a narrow strip of terra rossa, red loam over limestone, paired with a cool maritime climate on South Australia's Limestone Coast. That ripens Cabernet slowly and evenly, building the classic fruit and tannins for which the region is known. It is widely regarded as Australia's home of Cabernet Sauvignon.
How is this different from Edenvale's other Cabernet Sauvignon?
Our Non-Alcoholic Cabernet Sauvignon wine is blended from South Eastern Australian fruit for easy, everyday drinking. This is a Premium Reserve wine, made from single-region Coonawarra fruit, so it is more structured and refined, with greater depth, firmer tannins and a longer finish. Same grape, but a refined step up in provenance and complexity.
Does it taste like a full-strength Coonawarra Cabernet?
Very close. Because the fruit is fermented into a complete wine before the alcohol is gently removed, the fruit-driven flavours and tannins carry through. It drinks dry, savoury and structured, with a little less of the warmth alcohol gives, and none of the after-effects.
Can you cellar non-alcoholic Coonawarra Cabernet?
It is really made to enjoy young. Taking the alcohol out removes one of wine's natural preservatives, so unlike a full-strength Coonawarra Cabernet built for the cellar, it is just as good fresh. Keep it upright somewhere cool and dark, and once opened, reseal, refrigerate and drink within a couple of days.
