What Food Pairs With Alcohol-Free Shiraz?

The robust structure of our bold and fruity Shiraz makes it a great match for hard cheeses, pizza, pasta, BBQ, and fattier cuts of meat. Get mouths watering with these superb pairings:

  • Slow-braised lamb shanks with rosemary, garlic and a Shiraz reduction (use the wine in the sauce).
  • Aged hard cheeses, such as cheddar, manchego, gouda, and parmigiano.
  • Beef and mushroom pie with a flaky top.
  • Kangaroo or venison fillet with a black cherry or berry jus.
  • Italian sausage and fennel traybake.
  • Moroccan chickpea tagine with prunes.
  • Eggplant parmigiana.
  • Cherry and almond tart.

Removing Alcohol From Edenvale Shiraz

Shiraz thrives in the warm South Eastern Australian regions from which our grapes are sourced, and that sun-ripened fruit gives this wine its bold, generous character. We ferment it to build the variety's natural depth and structure, then gently remove the alcohol using our GoLo technology to retain as much of the varietal integrity as possible. The finished wine is a premium alcohol-removed Shiraz with less than 0.5% alcohol by volume, well below the international standard for non-intoxicating and similar to the level found naturally in fruit juice.

Why People Think This Is the Best Non-Alcoholic Shiraz

Never without a bottle in our place. People can't believe it's non alcoholic. Love it.

Edenvale wines are very pleasant to drink, especially if one has to drive home afterwards. My favourite one is the Shiraz, but the entire range is lovely.

After over 2 years alcohol free it is a real treat to have found Edenvale wines. They taste great and it is so nice to be able to again have a glass with dinner or drinks with friends and not be the odd one out.

Edenvale Non-Alcoholic Shiraz FAQs

Is Edenvale Shiraz sweet or dry?

-

It sits on the medium-dry side, in the style of a traditional Shiraz, with ripe dark fruit for a touch of sweetness. Because the alcohol has been gently removed, the finish feels a touch softer and rounder than that of a full-strength red, making it easy to enjoy on its own or with a meal.

What temperature should I serve Edenvale alcohol-removed Shiraz at?

+

Serve it lightly chilled, at around 14 to 16 degrees, the same range you would use for a full-bodied red. A short spell in the fridge before pouring lets the black cherry and plum characters show at their best. It also holds up well over ice if you prefer it cooler.

Can I cook with Edenvale Non-Alcoholic Shiraz?

+

Yes. It works beautifully in slow-cooked dishes, red sauces and gravies, adding the depth of colour and dark-fruit flavour you want from a cooking red. One thing to note: with no alcohol to cook off, it will not reduce in quite the same way, so add it a little earlier and let it simmer down gently.

How long does Edenvale Non-Alcoholic Shiraz keep once opened?

+

Once opened, reseal it and keep it in the fridge, then enjoy within three to four days. Alcohol normally helps preserve an open bottle, so an alcohol-removed red is best treated like a fresh juice and kept chilled rather than left on the bench.

How does this non-alcoholic Shiraz wine compare to a full-strength Shiraz?

+

The grapes, the winemaking and aromatics are all there, so you get the deep ruby colour, black cherry aroma and plummy fruit you would expect. The clearest difference is mouthfeel, since alcohol adds warmth and weight, so an alcohol-removed Shiraz feels a little lighter on the palate. Most drinkers find it a genuinely satisfying glass.
